台湾高雄市橋頭の黒銅聖観世音像

中文＆英文は台北在住のＪ氏夫妻訳による。
鈴木藤三郎氏顕彰にかかる一連のシリーズ本の出版や台湾見学等の運動を　「藤三郎プロジェクト（Ｔｏｚａｂｕｒｏ　Ｐｒｏｊｅｃｔ）」　と命名してくださったのもＪ氏である。

聖観音像

1902年、鈴木藤三郎社長がこの像を建立した。それは、この像を通して、遠く故郷を離れた（異国の）地で抗日分子の脅威にさらされていた日本精糖の技術員たちに信仰の安らぎを与え、また、台湾の農民達の心が製糖会社へ向くようにと願ってのことである。

観音像は、工場の社屋事務所を守り、工場の操業が順調で、また作業員が平穏無事である様にと北の方角に向け、正面に製糖工場を凝視するように立てられている。

調査によれば、この観音像は、日本仏像彫刻の代表作である奈良薬師寺東院の観音像（西暦約720年）と同じ風格を有し、で芸術的価値があるものである。鈴木社長は四体を鋳造させ、一体は高雄橋仔頭製糖工場に立て、他の三体を故郷の静岡県森町、鎌倉の別荘、そして東京深川の日本製糖工場本部にそれぞれ建立した。

聖觀音像

1902年﹐鈴木藤三郎社長立此聖像。主要是撫慰遠離故鄉在(異國)外且受到「抗日份子」威脅的日本製糖技術人員能得到庇祐﹐同時也希望藉此拉近台灣農民對製糖會社的向心力。

聖觀音佛像祀立方向朝北﹐正面對著製糖工廠凝視廠房﹐意味著一方面可鎮宅(社宅辦公室)﹐使工廠的作業順利﹐另一方面可保佑工作人員平安無事。

經考證﹐此觀音佛像係與素有日本佛像雕刻代表作的奈良藥師寺東院的觀音佛像(約於西元720年)是同一風格的作品﹐極具藝術價值。當初鈴木社長鑄造四尊觀音佛像﹐一尊祀立在高雄橋仔頭製糖廠﹐其他三尊則分別祀立在其故鄉靜岡縣森町、鎌倉的別墅、以及位於東京深川的日本製糖工廠本部。

Statue of Guanyin Goddess of Mercy

President of the company, Mr. Tosaburo Suzuki set up this holy statue in 1902, mainly to pacify and bless the Japanese sugar manufacturing technicians far away from their hometowns and lived under constant threats from Anti-Japanese Insurgents’. Meanwhile, it also aimed to attract  Taiwanese farmers’ cohesion toward the sugar manufacturing company.

The Holy Statue of Guanyin Goddess of Mercy was set up to face the north and just right the sugar Manufacturing factory, which meant that, on the one hand, it could watch over the building (Factory Director’s office) to make work smooth, and on the other hand, it could also bless the factory with successful production as well as safety of all the employees.

According to research, the Holy Statue of Guanyin Goddess of mercy was built by imitating the one built at the East Temple of the Buddha Temple in Nara, Japan (founded around 720 A.D.). They both had the same style and it was of great artistic value. At that time the president Mr. Suzuki had casted four statues. One was erected at Chiao Ah Tou Sugar Factory., and the other three were individually erected at his hometown, Mori Machi, Shizuoka, Japan, in his cottage in Kamakura, Kanagawa, Japan, as well as in Japan Sugar Manufacturing Factory Headquarter in Fukagawa,Tokyo .
